You’re moving into a home with security alarms
A new house may come with a home security system. All the components work, are hung in the right places, and are ready to go. In this example, just turn on the phone to call and start a new service contract. A Vivint expert will still come out to ensure there are no usability problems, and they could offer ideas on upgrades. It's a fast appointment, and you can have your monitoring set up without paying for any new components -- unless you make additions.
The outgoing owners can move an existing Vivint contract to you for a one-time set-up cost to make the transfer a snap. If the previous owners are moving to an apartment complex or smaller home, you keeping the security service might be a condition of the sale.
You are looking to move and take your existing equipment with you
You might need to take your old smart devices with you to a new home when you move. Luckily, it's pretty simple to accomplish, as many alarms and smart devices are wireless. You can uninstall each device by yourself or contact a Vivint expert to dismantle the system. Then an expert will set up the same features -- and any smart devices you want to add -- in your new house. And your home security contract will stay the same.
